The lower Columbia River estuary is loaded with fat, healthy sturgeon. Catch and release only is the rule, but for lack of a better term, “epic” fishing can be had. 20-50 fish days have been the norm. Fresh anchovies and sand shrimp are the preferred baits. Look for water with good tidal flow between 10 and 30 ft deep. Expect minimal competition and the fishing should hold up through August.
