Salmon fishing has begun to pick up out of the Port of Brookings. Nearly 20 kings were brought back to the docks on Saturday, and on Sunday more than 30 were confirmed by the fish checkers. Salmon fishing was slower on Monday.
Fishing for lingcod and rockfish remains wide open, with a very nice grade of fish. Flat ocean conditions with no swell have contributed to the great fishing for lings and rockfish.
We are trolling herring and anchovies with Big Al’s Fish Flash flashers for the kings, and jigging small grubs and flutter jigs for the bottom fish.
A few of the lings in the past week have topped 20 pounds. We also have released some really nice yelloweye and quillback rockfish. Alaska style fishing on the Oregon Coast!
