07/16/15 Point Defiance Report

The chinook fishing continues to be very slow with just a salmon or two coming in daily, the chinook fishery should improve in the next couple of weeks and the best spots should be the Girl Scout camp area, Gig Harbor shoreline, and Pt. Evans. Trolling typically provides the best opportunity overall this time of year.

We continue to get a few pink salmon coming in but I don’t think we will see significant numbers for another week or so and the usual haunts will be Redondo to Browns Pt., Commencement Bay shoreline and Quartermaster Harbor shoreline as well.

The Dungeness crabbing is tailing off a bit but still decent you just have to soak the pots a little longer and experiment with depth’s, the usual areas such as Quartermaster Harbor, Commencement Bay, and Dash Pt. have been decent producers.
