07/24/15 – CHINOOK HAVE ARRIVED! – Area 11

Just in time for the upcoming Derbies!

There are some nice chinook moving through right with fish being landed along the Gig Harbor shoreline, Pt. Dalco to the Girl Scout Camp, and of course the Clay Banks area trolling seems to be the best mainly because you can cover a lot more water (some of these Chinook have been caught early in the morning as shallow as 30’ so do not be afraid to fish 30’ to 60’ early.Mooching can produce salmon but the dog fish have been chewing up bait and leaders faster than you can tie and bait. Jigging is a better option right now.

Crabbing is fair in all of the usual places like Quarter Master Harbor, Dash Pt. and Commencement Bay experiment with different depths and bait.
