08/05/15 Tuna Time in Westport – Salmon Too!

Cyndi Lanier hoist her first Big Albacore of the season weighing 31.6 pound. Just think it is still early in the Tuna season. The really big Chinook should start showing this week and run through the end of August. Lets go get some!

This weekend is the annual Washington Tuna Classic in Westport Washington. This years event has just over 60 teams registered and it should be a Blast. All proceeds from this event go to support taking Wounded Soldiers fishing and each year over 6000 pounds of Fresh Tuna is donated to Northwest Harvest by participants. However you can be a part of this event even if you are not fishing. They always need many many helpers. Show up at the Big Tent on the museum ground and volunteer.

Salmon fishing continues to be very good with the bigger Kings out in 300 feet of water and a ton of Silvers on the north beach. Downriggers are a must for the deep water Kings and Divers will be fine for the Silver.
