Last Chance Cast

Winter Ingelfield

Spending the day on the river starting in the Lower Provo River in Utah downstream to upstream with this amazing angler http://www.theriverdamsel.com was an adventurous day. We had such an amazing day.

Bringing in a smaller brown on this set as my friend stood back taking pictures, knowing this Is one feeling that bring us out;the tug. I was much deeper into this run in faster waters;brown set on a SOW bug size 18.

Staying on this run for a few more hours the day seemed to get slower, casting away staying patient for the next set to arrive. It’s hot now in mid day around 90 degrees. As I step back into the ripples I start at the seams and work my way in.
I’m set on a bouncing rig with a small black midge size 20 and a SOW bug size 20 as it seems my hits were taking the smallest I had in my boxes.

A few catches appeared amongst me. Mostly browns and lost a few smaller rainbows under 12 inches. We ventured up stream and hit one of our favorite runs. She took one side, I had the sun on my back, the day is coming to an end.
Both of us got hits but lost all of them before we could net them. It was slow fishing and other anglers had rocked it here through out the day.

We worked back downstream where we each netted a fish; we separate during our last few cast. I went up stream next to where my car was parked and thought what the Heck. Those who share this passion knows the feeling of wanting that” last chance cast”.
I rigged up with a lot of weight on 5x with an Rs2 and black midge. First cast in I  got a little Brown about 12 inches and had girth. Next catch was a baby brown that fit in my hand.

My friend approached me as we are ready to call it a day and I nailed this bad boy. Nice male brown caught on the RS2 just a fly I wanted to try out. This run I was in is off a boat dock for tubers and kayaks. I have caught many fish here prior. And I know it has resident toads in it.
